Using a strengths-based perspective, Fiona helps her clients discover their core resiliency while shining light on their unique gifts and talents. Engaging in Narrative Therapy, she helps her clients write a life story they can feel good about and embrace using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she helps them understand their thought processes and how those affect their behavior utilizing Motivational Interviewing, she helps them make decisions they feel good about. Her toolkit includes helping clients create and maintain boundaries, implement coping strategies, analyze their values, practice mindfulness, and find acceptance, forgiveness and compassion for self and others. Other topics might include self-care, procrastination, and family patterns of behavior.
Common challenges her clients face include depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, fear, trauma, abuse, addiction, abandonment, relationship issues, and PTSD. By helping them gain insight into the root of these issues and how they affect their lives, Fiona helps her clients move in a direction that supports and empowers them.
Fiona works with English- and Spanish-speaking individuals, couples, and families. She encourages journaling between sessions so the therapeutic process can be ongoing and allow room for personal reflection, introspection, and self-discovery.
