The Intensive Outpatient Program offered by Santa Fe Psychotherapy & Consulting, LLC is a voluntary program providing a level of care less acute than inpatient care. The program is designed to help people with chemical dependency and mental health issues transition back to the community and prevent the need for inpatient treatment. It is a fully integrated Co-Occurring Disorders program. We believe that mental illness and addictions overlap and we treat them simultaneously. Specific activities may be tailored to your individual needs, but the overall program will address mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, while helping you achieve and maintain stability around issues of drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, and other impulsive and addictive behaviors.
The program includes educational, process and creative therapy groups. In process group therapy, you will have the opportunity to increase your coping and communication skills in a supportive environment and learn to replace old patterns of behavior that no longer serve you with new behaviors. Creative therapy offers an opportunity to explore emotions and feelings in a non-verbal way. We encourage emotional expression through the use of visual arts, movement and drama techniques.
Through our physician and counselors you will be provided with medication education and management services. Our staff provides educational and therapeutic modalities to help you achieve your treatment goals. All aspects of the program are essential to your recovery!
The usual length of attendance is four weeks on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Punctuality and commitment to treatment are essential.
Our treatment team in collaboration with you will establish goals for your treatment. These goals may include: helping you achieve mood stability, maintain sobriety, increase your understanding of your diagnosis and connect with community and professional resources.
We also provide you and your family with ongoing education regarding medication, diagnosis, symptom management, relapse prevention, problem solving and communication skills. Because an effective support system is crucial to your recovery, we expect you bring someone with you who will participate in the intake process and every Tuesday as a Supportive Other. This person may be a spouse, significant other, family member, a friend or neighbor and will be expected to attend the Intake and Tuesday sessions.
